GILBERT NG

Gilbert is one of the very few practicing solicitors focusing on tech startups, fintech, blockchain and the virtual assets industry.  He was previously the head of legal at two different virtual asset exchanges, both were in the top five exchanges globally by trading volume.  He has also been advising various technology and blockchain startups.  Projects he had advised on include stablecoin project, decentralized finance project, virtual assets funds, OTC trading platform, virtual asset payment platform, virtual asset wallet provider, etc.

His area of expertise covers (i) joint venture, merger and acquisition, (ii) project fund raising, (iii) setting up corporate structure (particularly for virtual assets and web 3.0 businesses), (iv) virtual assets and securities licensing applications in Hong Kong, UAE, Europe, US, and other offshore jurisdictions, (v) establishment of virtual asset funds, (vi) advising on anti-money laundering compliance and operation procedures, (vii) legal opinions on virtual assets’ nature; (viii) general commercial matters; and (ix) litigations.

Gilbert was once the company secretary and general counsel at a public company listed on the mainboard of Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and familiar with the listing rules and regulatory compliance with SFC.

Aside from his professional commitments, he is also frequently speaking at numerous legal seminars, conferences, and law school lectures to promote and educate the public about the regulations, risks and the overall potentials of virtual assets and blockchain technology.
